As a photographer, one of my favorite parts of my job is learning about and capturing others’ accomplishments. Whether it’s a first book, a new business, or a personal rebrand, I love creating imagery that feels true to who they are.
I had the honor of photographing Ranicea, an author preparing to release her very first book. From the beginning, she had a clear vision for her branding photos… She wanted them to feel fun, inviting, and set in a coffee shop environment. This matched perfectly with my style, and I was so excited to start planning everything.

After doing a bit of location scouting, I thought that Rooted Coffeehouse West Lake would be the perfect fit. It has this homey, welcoming atmosphere that aligns with the kind of storytelling I aim to create through my work. The warm lighting from the morning sun, cozy seating areas, and relaxed environment made it an ideal place for a branding session.

Ranicea showed up in a casual but elevated outfit that fit the vision perfectly. She wore a white knit top paired with jeans and a brown belt — simple, timeless, and authentic. One of the things I always encourage my clients to do is wear something that feels like them. Comfort translates so beautifully on camera, and when you feel like yourself, it shows in every frame.

During our session, we moved through different areas of the coffee shop to create a variety of looks while still maintaining a cohesive feel. I’m so grateful to Rooted Coffeehouse for allowing us to use their space. It gave us the freedom to explore different corners, each with its own unique feel.
Sessions like this are a reminder of why I love branding photography. It’s not just about creating pretty images — it’s about capturing personality, purpose, and something meaningful.
