This season of life is full of change. You’re growing, evolving, and stepping into the next version of yourself — and that deserves to be celebrated. Photos give you the chance to pause time and hold onto these meaningful moments, so you can look back on them for years to come. Whether you’re a high school senior or graduating from college, preparing for your session truly matters more than you might think. I’m here to help you feel confident, comfortable, and ready to make the most of it.

Your outfits help tell your story. They show off your personality, your style, and what makes you you. While the cap and gown are a must for graduation sessions, I also love including outfits that highlight your individuality.

Use the time leading up to your session to plan your hair and makeup. Just like your outfit, your hair and makeup are another way to show your personality and style. While a natural look tends to photograph beautifully, the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident being yourself.
For guys, it’s important to plan ahead as well — whether that means getting a fresh haircut, trimming facial hair, or making sure everything feels polished but still true to you.

Are there places that feel meaningful to you? Maybe you’re artsy and feel most at home downtown, love to read and want that reflected with a session at a library, or you’re a free spirit who just wants to run around in an open field. No matter what speaks to you, let your personality guide the location of your session.

For graduation sessions, be sure to bring your cap, gown, and tassel. Beyond that, think about the things you love most. Sports lovers can bring their gear, bookworms might bring a favorite book, and musicians should absolutely bring their instrument. Whatever you’re passionate about, these photos are the perfect place to celebrate it.

These are just a few tips to help you prepare for your session, but I hope they’ve brought you some clarity and excitement for what’s ahead. As your photographer, I’ll always send a detailed Welcome Guide with even more helpful information — but these tips are specifically tailored to senior and graduation sessions. This season of life is a huge accomplishment, and I would be honored to help you capture it in a meaningful way.
